weview_Feb 2017v2February Alumni Spotlight – Team weview, winner of the 2016 Global Challenge Virtual Preliminary and finalist of the Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge, officially launched their website and new platform – https://weview.tv. With weview, customers can find the exact products they were looking for online by using their platform that combines user videos with personal reviews, as well as interactive elements to revolutionize the shopping experience. The company has expanded to four employees and they are currently raising their first financial round.

January Alumni SpotlightPark & Diamond, the $25,000 grand prize winner of the 2016 VT KnowledgeWorks Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge, is making progress with their product’s intellectual property and final design. David Hall and Jordan Klein, the founders of Park & Diamond, desire to improve cycling safety by creating an ultra portable helmet that eliminates bulkiness and the stigma of current bicycle helmets. They are working with the Virginia Tech Investor Network (VTIN) to begin a round of seed funding in the near future.

November Alumni SpotlightTeam CoatChecker from the 2016 Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge won stage one of Venture Kick in the amount of $10,000! CoatChecker will advance to Venture Kick’s second stage and compete in March 2017 for the $20,000 prize. Their company will be founded this month, as they continue to work on their business model. Team CoatChecker will be competing in the Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge for the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Challenge Trophy and the $25,000 Grand Prize in the Alumni Assembly Hall in The Inn at Virginia Tech, Blacksburg, Virginia, on Thursday, August 18, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. – 4:15 p.m. All are invited and those who would like to attend can register here.
