Jim Loux (right), the Founder and President of Allegheny Brokerage Co. Inc., delivered the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Challenge Trophy to Vincent Murray (left) of team Ecosy from Queen’s University, Belfast. Their winning business concept of the 2010 Global Student Challenge was a wood pellet fueled patio heater that reduces fuel costs, increases mobility, and reduces the environmental impact of patio heaters used for outdoor dining and entertaining.

The Allegheny Logistics Group is an umbrella identity covering Allegheny Brokerage Co. Inc. and Allegheny Logistics Services Inc.  The Allegheny Logistics Group and the Allegheny Companies provide full service support in all areas of exportation and importation of goods through a network of agents and partners in more than 80 cities around the world.  This support includes ocean and air freight, inland transport, warehousing, and freight management services.  Additionally we provide knowledgeable consulting and training services regarding compliance with U.S. Government export and import regulations.

The VT KnowledgeWorks Global Partnership Event offers university students and faculty from all over the world a chance to collaborate, form partnerships, build their global networks, and congregate in Washington, D.C., and Roanoke-Blacksburg, Virginia, USA. The Global Partnership is an ongoing cooperative association of regions building permanent social and academic relationships with each other, for mutual long-term advantage. Members of the partnership gather annually during a week-long Global Partnership event hosted by VT KnowledgeWorks, Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, Virginia Tech, and citizens and businesses of the Roanoke-Blacksburg region.
