We Invite You to Serve as a 2016 Global Host Family

VT KnowledgeWorks 2016 Global Partnership Event

VT KnowledgeWorks invites you to be a host family for this year’s Global Partnership Event, August 13-19, 2016. Rounding up enough host families for our group of eager, global university students seems to be the most challenging component each year, so we would appreciate you joining our team of hosts or referring us to others who may be interested.

The VT KnowledgeWorks Global Partnership Event offers university students and faculty from all over the world a chance to collaborate, form partnerships, build their global networks, and congregate in Blacksburg and Roanoke.  The Student Track celebrates the energy and ingenuity of university students and their important contributions to the global economy by means of the Global Student Entrepreneurship Challenge. The Challenge provides a unique opportunity for students to compete globally for a $25,000 grand prize and VT KnowledgeWorks trophy.  While in Blacksburg, the teams are housed with local families, spend interactive time with successful technology companies, enjoy fellowship with Virginia Tech students, and attend a formal awards banquet.

Thanks to the generous support of host families, participating global university students are housed with local residents of the New River Valley during the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Partnership Event (GPE), August 13-20.  In summary, host families provide:

  • Lodging for one or more visiting global students from Saturday night, August 13 through Friday morning, August 19.
  • Some of the dinners during the week and breakfast every morning except for Thursday, August
  • Some of the daily transportation needs of student(s) throughout the event week.

As a token of our appreciation, VT KnowledgeWorks invites host families to attend several celebratory events during the GPE. The event agenda listed in this PDF ONLY highlights the host family responsibilities, as well as the invitational meals emphasized in bold font. Closer to the event, we will provide a more detailed event agenda. A summary of the activities and events offered to our visiting, global students will be continuously updated at www.vtkwglobal.com/2016/studentagenda.

Let us know you will be a global host family!
