Established in 1985, the 230-acre Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center (VTCRC) boasts more than 31 buildings with over 2,700 employees and is home to more than 160 private companies and research centers. The VTCRC is owned and managed by the Virginia Tech Foundation, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit non-stock corporation established in 1948. The VTCRC strives to develop a growing, prestigious research park for high-technology companies and in collaboration with the university, advance the research, educational and technology transfer missions of Virginia Tech.
At the VT KnowledgeWorks Building in the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, student teams from all over the world, who previously attended the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Partnership Week, have the opportunity to obtain free summer work space to pursue their business concepts.

Virginia Tech student teams will compete at the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Entrepreneurship Challenge Semifinals for the chance to win one of three scholarship prizes, including the Plastics One Advanced Manufacturing Award for $10,000, the $10,000 VT KnowledgeWorks Information Technology Award for the most outstanding intangible product or service, and the $5,000 People’s Choice Award, sponsored by the Virginia Tech Pamplin College of Business. One of the two teams that receive the Advanced Manufacturing and the Information Technology prizes will earn the grand prize and receive an additional $5,000 in scholarship assistance, as well as the opportunity to compete on a world stage in the $25,000 VT KnowledgeWorks Global Challenge this August.
