With regard to the benefits we have experienced in serving as a host family to two students for the past four years, we have enjoyed having two students each year, as they provide support for each other and do not generate much additional work for us. Delivering two students to each day's venue isn't much more work than delivering one.
We have enjoyed meeting very motivated and able students from other countries who are among the best and brightest those countries can send to the competition.
