VT KnowledgeWorks Blog Celebrates 4th Anniversary

From Anne Giles Clelland, founder of Handshake Media, Incorporated, a VT KnowledgeWorks member company:

Jim Flowers and I dreamed of a blog for VT KnowledgeWorks in November of 2007.  New to blogging software, setting up the blog and getting the first post up took me 26 hours.

Inside VT KnowledgeWorks began on November 30, 2007 with the post The Power of Dreams.

Today, November 30, 2011, Inside VT KnowledgeWorks, the VT KnowledgeWorks blog, celebrates its fourth anniversary with almost 1000 posts.

In anticipation of the 4th anniversary of the blog on November 30, 2011, I have been compiling top ten lists and sharing conclusions from four years in the blogging business.

Today’s top ten list is a personal one.  Thanks to Jim Flowers for commissioning a VT KnowledgeWorks blog –  Inside VT KnowledgeWorks – I have been truly privileged to be “inside” to witness the stories of the ingenuity, vision and determination of the founders and leaders of start-ups and companies who are members of the VT KnowledgeWorks network.

Here are my top ten moments of awe and inspiration from four years of operating Inside VT KnowledgeWorks, the VT KnowledgeWorks blog:

(10) G. Q. Lu showing me NBE Tech’s semi-conductor paste

(9) David Gruber explaining his device for using fish to monitor water quality

(8) Reading the expert dialogue as it unfolded between Portaqua’s founder Rafael Gonzalez and world-renowned water expert, Dr. John Cairns

(7) Learning over the years from Daryl Scott about his brainchild, competitive intelligence Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) AttainCI, then learning of the success of his company

(6) Jim Flowers, Executive Director of VT KnowledgeWorks, launching his blog for entrepreneurs in September, 2008, So you want to launch a business…

(5) Barry Welch of FurnishWEB evolving and expanding his company’s online software system for the home furnishings industry to the iPad

(4) Using our hair to learn about micro-machining with Nanci Hardwick and Lindsey Eversole

(3) David Cutter giving me a ride in the TORC car

(2) Friend, colleague and fellow company founder Z. Kelly Queijo of Smart College Visit, Inc. winning the Open Business Concept Competition at the VT KnowledgeWorks Entrepreneurship Summit

And the the very, very best moment, that has resulted in on-going beauty and wonder:

(1) Meeting Martin Houdbine and Charles-Eric Gorron of Artbeating when we served as a host family for their participation in the VT KnowledgeWorks Global Partnership Week, then seeing Artbeating return the following year to present its business model to local business leaders

Martin Houdbine and Charles-Eric Gorron

Martin Houdbine and Charles-Eric Gorron share a Handshake 1.0 at Handshake 2.0 Headquarters in Blacksburg, Virginia, USA.

Thank you to all associated with VT KnowledgeWorks!  What moments to celebrate!
