"Meet the Blue Ridge Business Journal's 2010 '20 Under 40,' the region's most promising and accomplished young business leaders."
– The Blue Ridge Business Journal
Tyson Daniel, founder of VT KnowledgeWorks member company LimbGear, was named to the 2010 list of the "best and brightest young business and community leaders in the Blue Ridge region" of Virginia by the Blue Ridge Business Journal.
Here's the excerpt on Tyson Daniel from the profiles of the award winners:
For years, Tyson Daniel worked with death row clients as a senior assistant capital trial lawyer. Now he's an entrepreneur, inventor and athletic apparel designer.
Daniel owns LimbGear in Blacksburg, a collegiate-branded athletic apparel company that grew out of his ideas for workout clothing. Some of his products include MP3-enabled skullcaps and the Go-Sleeve, which holds a runner's MP3 player, keys and cash.
Instead of basing his manufacturing overseas, he has built relationships with sewing plants in Martinsville and Russell County to bring some work back to Southwest Virginia.
"Tyson embodies what I think of when I think of the word 'entrepreneur,' " said nominator Kelly Queijo, CEO of Smart College Visit. "It's been said future jobs will come from startups, not big business. I think he could be one of those startups that open doors for others."
