From Jim Flowers, Director VT KnowledgeWorks:
On December 11-12, in Paris, the Technopolicy Network and Genopole, a leading French bio-incubator, hosted the Seventh Annual Science Alliance Conference on Best Practices in Science Based Incubation.
75 professionals representing 50 technology incubators from 20 countries gathered to exchange experience and expertise and to recognize centers of excellence through the annual awards program. The judging panel considers a broad range of statistical data on each participant and also interviews client companies regarding their incubation experience. Five “category” awards are presented, as well as an overall “Incubator of the Year.” The categories are
· Return on public investment
· Self sustainability
· Fastest growth
· Most promising new incubator
· Good practices
I am pleased to report that VT KnowledgeWorks was honored as the Most Promising New Incubator for 2008. On the strength of the collective performance of our Member companies and the ongoing financial support of our corporate sponsors and the Virginia Tech Corporate Research Center, we now proudly display an attractive trophy in our lobby.
Please join me in exercising a bit of Hokie pride in this bit of recognition from far beyond the Blacksburg town limits.
