Poetry and Entrepreneurship

Maybe?

From an e-mail from Pat Goodrich:

The Virginia Tech Graduate School is pleased to present its Distinguished Speaker Series featuring the inimitable poet and lecturer, David Whyte, Wednesday, October 22, 2008, 12:15 PM – 1:30 PM, the GLC Multipurpose Room [Graduate Life Center at Donaldson Brown, Otey Street, Blacksburg, VA (across from Squires Student Center on the
corner of College Avenue and Otey Street)].

Whether it’s the board room, the laboratory or the halls of academe, David Whyte’s mission is to help people “expand personal and professional visions and think in fresh and innovative ways.” He uses the unlikely vehicles of poetry and storytelling to open the “conversational edge” where imagination, creativity and energy converge and allow us to conceive of “new and unexpected answers to old problems.”

Whyte puts poetry to work. He brings the language of poetry and insightful commentary to organizational clients in order to bring an understanding of the process of change, strategy and creativity. He then shows us how to apply that knowledge to vitalize and transform the workplace.

As The Times of London noted, Whyte has bowled over the captains of industry. He provides an important contribution to our understanding of the very nature of individual and organizational change.

Join us for a truly unique experience that is guaranteed to stir up your own creative juices!
